Timothy Dick sentenced to 4 years in jail for attempted kidnaping in Butler County
August 23, 2006

Press Release For Immediate Release August 22, 2006

(Hamilton, Ohio) On June 2, 2004, Defendant Timothy Dick attempted to kidnap a 12-year old Butler County girl when he approached her asking if she had seen his dog. After the victim began to walk away from the defendant she was grabbed from behind. The kidnap attempt failed when the victim’s screams caught the attention of her father who was nearby and came to her rescue.

In February 2005, Common Pleas Judge Patricia Oney sentence Dick to 4 years in jail for the attempted kidnaping in Butler County and determined Dick to be a sexual predator.

Today, that same defendant, Timothy Dick, was sentenced in Hamilton County to 14 years more years for a 1996 Rape and Kidnaping. On November 7, 1997, Dick raped a young girl, after kidnaping her from her school bus stop on Fields-Ertel Road. DNA evidence from the Butler County case, provided police with the evidence to link Timothy Dick to the 1996 rape and kidnaping.

Prosecutor Piper stated, “Sexual predators simply need to be isolated from society. We can be thankful in our case, the little girl’s father was nearby and that the little girl herself thwarted the attempted kidnaping by her screams. After seeing the conviction for Rape in Hamilton County, we can see why Judge Oney found him to be sexual predator. With Dick’s pattern of conduct, the only way our children will be safe is to segregate him from society. Our case provided the evidence to solve a cold case in Hamilton County and I’m thankful he won’t be out of prison for a long time.”
