Wright Guilty of Aggravated Vehicular Homicide
June 29, 2012

Butler County Common Pleas Judge Noah Powers found Randalla Wright, Oxford, guilty of aggravated vehicular homicide on June 28, 2012. Wright had stopped for a school bus, but failed to wait until the bus had disengaged the stop signs and safety bar before continuing. One year-old Bentley Blake died following injuries sustained when Wright's vehicle ran over him.

Assistant Prosecutor John Heinkel argued that Wright was distracted and in a hurry, causing to take off before the bus left the bus stop. Judge Powers felt Wright's testimony was self-serving and inconsistent with the facts of the case. The guilty verdict could mean as much as 8 years in prison for Wright.
