Victim Advocate Receive Workshop Grant
July 13, 2012

Thanks to the hard work and diligence of Jennifer Woolum, Grant Specialist for the Butler County Prosecutor's Office, a Victim Advocate from Butler County will have the opportunity to attend the 38th Annual NOVA (National Organization for Victim Assistance) Conference. The conference will be held in San Diego, CA in August.

Jennifer became part of the Prosecutor Office's staff in March of this year and the NOVA grant, sponsored by the Ohio Attorney General, was one of her first assignments. Only 2 recipients were selected from all of Ohio's 88 counties. Our office is proud of the work Jennifer is doing for our office and honored to be selected as a grant recipient.

The goal of a Victim Advocate is to help victims prevail over the trauma of their victimization by assisting and advocating for safety, healing, justice, and restitution. Victim Advocates also help give victims a voice in the judicial process. The information gathered at this conference will help our advocates learn more about the criminal mind and additional ways to help victims understand the process of victimization.
