Charles Ray Edwards Pleads Guilty to Theft From An Elderly Person
January 16, 2013

Charles Ray Edwards will face sentencing on February 27, 2013 for the felony offense of Theft From An Elderly Person after entering admitting his guilt in front of Judge Craig Hedric today. In June, 2012, Mr. Edwards was responsible for the theft of over $17,000 from a family member who was over the age of 65. Mr. Edwards had convinced the victim to send him the money so he could purchase a vehicle for her. The vehicle was never purchased and the money was not returned.

"The evidence against Mr. Edwards spoke for itself," stated Assistant Prosecutor Gloria Sigman. "The defendant's own statements to family members sealed his fate."

"As part of the Crimes Against the Elderly Task Force, Gloria Sigman is dedicated to bringing to justice those who perpetrate financial crimes against Butler County citizens 65 years of age or older,'" said Prosecutor Michael T. Gmoser. "I am pleased the family was able to avoid a trial, and that Mr. Edwards has accepted responsibility for his actions."
