Press Release For Immediate Release February 23, 2007

(Hamilton, Ohio) It took a Butler County Jury less than an hour to reached a guilty verdict against Defendant Alonzo Bradford earlier this morning. Bradford a 49-year old Hamilton man was found guilty of Assault, a fourth degree felony, Public Indecency, a third degree misdemeanor and Resisting Arrest, a second degree misdemeanor.

The charges stemmed from an incident on December 20, 2006 at the intersection of Martin Luther King Boulevard and Pershing Avenue in Hamilton. Police were dispatched after receiving complaints of a man masturbating in public. When confronted by police at the scene, defendant Bradford became combative and assaulted Police Officer Steve McFall in an attempted to flee from police.

Immediately after the conclusion of the trial, defendant Bradford was sentenced to 12 months in the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections, by Common Pleas Judge Craig Hedric.

Prosecutor Piper stated, “Assistant Prosecutor Brad Burress did an outstanding job putting this case together. The defendant, who has five prior convictions, would not waive time, so we had to have a trial quickly. Officer McFall, who was on vacation at Disney World with his family had to interrupt their vacation to return for trial. Its not a police officer’s job to be assaulted. We will continue to aggressively prosecute any assaults upon a police officers. We are also pleased that Judge Hedric sentenced Bradford to prison because he well deserves it. Exposing yourself in public is not harmless and assaulting a police officer also must be dealt with harshly. The Prosecutor’s Office thanks Officer McFall for interrupting a family vacation in the pursuit of the administration of justice.”
