Scams have been around since 300 B.C. –The earliest recorded attempt. So the practice of trying to swindle people out of money has been around for thousands of years, it's just the way in which the fraudulent act is performed that has changed. The evolution of technology, the internet and now Artificial Intelligence (AI) have made it easier for scammers to rob us of our life long savings, retirement and everything we own, which is why we must be vigilant in learning how NOT to become a victim!
It is very difficult sometimes to determine whether or not an email, social media post, phone call or advertisement is real, but there are certain red flags that DEFINITELY identify it as a scam!
- No legitimate agency will ask customers to pay by GIFT CARD!
- NEVER pay money in order to receive a prize or get a job!
- Pressure to act IMMEDIATELY!
- SCARE TACTICS. No one is going to come and arrest you for not paying.
- A LOVED ONE IS IN DANGER and needs money for an attorney or medical bills.
- A LOUD ALERT that pops up on your computer saying your computer has been hacked!
